Dr. Meisam Peiravi is the Founder, President and Principal Consultant of Zagros USA. With over a decade of multidisciplinary engineering experience, he specializes in environmental permitting, water and wastewater treatment, regulatory compliance, process engineering, and advanced process simulation for the industrial, mining, municipal, and critical minerals sectors.
A former lead regulator at the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ), he has led permitting reviews for major industrial facilities, including the largest tailings storage facility in the United States. His experience spans both industry and government, including engineering roles with Freeport-McMoRan and the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts. An award-winning researcher and U.S. EPA P3 Award recipient, Dr. Peiravi is also recognized for his work in rare earth element (REE) extraction and process innovation.
Susan Ritz, P.E. brings over 30 years of operational and engineering experience in the global mining and metals industry to Zagros USA. A highly respected technical leader, her career spans senior process engineering roles at world-class firms—including Newmont Mining, Jacobs Engineering, and SGS/KD Engineering—in addition to over 12 years of successful independent consulting. Sue specializes in process design, on-site troubleshooting, and rigorous due diligence to help clients run smarter, faster, and more efficient operations.
She holds a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Utah and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Arizona as well as a Registered Member of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME). At Zagros USA, Sue provides the technical expertise, engineering leadership, and practical guidance that enable clients to overcome their most challenging operational and process-related issues.
